While we are excited to see everyone and get back to some sense of normalcy, we find ourselves battling a new variant of the COVID-19 virus throughout the United States and Arizona. We had hoped that by our show the US would have reached herd immunity, which would have helped keep everyone safe at our shows, unfortunately the US and Arizona have fallen very short of this goal which has put us, as a business, in a spot that we have to evaluate what is best for the community to keep people safe. After several discussions with key individuals we have come up with a revised COVID response that will be in affect for Arizona Fur Con 2021.

The CDC currently requires everyone who is not vaccinated to wear a mask in public, and while we feel this is a good step we also fear that by our show things will have gotten worse due to the new Delta variant and lack of herd immunity in the US and Arizona. For these reasons we are going to implement a mask mandate for our event to help reduce the chances of getting infected at the show. We also know that many of you are vaccinated and would like to go without a mask if possible. We are going to offer the ability to show your vaccination card at registration to get a badge modification that will allow you to go throughout the show without a mask. This badge modification is required as our staff will be asking all those who are not wearing a mask and do not have the badge modification to put a mask on. We will be offering masks at registration for those of you that may have come to the show without one. We also know there are a few attendees that can not wear a mask for health reasons or age restrictions, for those who meet this requirement we will ask that you have your temperature checked at registration prior to obtaining your badge and badge modification.

We are saddened that we have to update our policy with these new changes, but the number one priority for our event is the safety of those who attend and we just don’t see any other options available to us at this juncture. We also wanted to release this policy change to give everyone the opportunity to get the vaccination prior to the show.

If you have already purchased a pass for 2021 and for what ever reason choose not to attend now due to this new policy change you can request your badge be rolled over to our 2022 show. We will not be offering any refunds per the terms and conditions that are clearly stated on our website during purchase.

UPDATE 8/11:

Update on COVID-19 and our policies going into the show. On July 27th the CDC released new directives on how the US should be handling the spread of COVID and in particular the Delta Variant. The main key takeaway from the release from the CDC was this statement “To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission.” They also provided a map of the US to allow you to track where your area is in terms of Low to High risk [link: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view]. Maricopa county, which is where we run the convention, is currently in High which means the recommendation is to have everyone wear a mask indoors. We will not update our final policy for masks until the Monday before the show to make sure we are following the latest information and provide one clear directive so there is no confusion. That being said, unless Arizona and Maricopa County move out of High we will most likely need to enforce a mask mandate to help keep everyone safe during our event. We know there are some of you that may choose to not attend if we have to institute the mandate and we will allow anyone who chooses to not attend for this reason to roll their purchase to our 2022 show.
